Our Name
Why “Fayeth”
My mother's name was Faye. My grandmother's name was Faye. Both of them are gone now, and both of them are the reason I have any faith at all.
My grandmother was a pastor and a foster mother. She adopted more than eight children and raised them as her own. And when a family had nowhere left to go, she didn't hand them a phone number — she opened her door and let them stay until they could get on their feet. She never called it a program. It was just what she did, for as long as it took.
My mother was a caregiver for people with disabilities. She spent her days making sure other people were looked after, and she did it while fighting sickle cell — a warrior in the truest sense, carrying her own pain quietly and still finding something to give to everyone around her. She had the same heart her mother did.
Two women, one name, one instinct:
when you have something and someone else doesn't, you share it.
I can't keep a house the way my grandmother kept hers, and I can't give the way my mother gave while she was hurting. But I can do what they did in the way that's available to me now, and I can do it with people who want to help. That's what Lead With Fayeth is: their hearts of gold, kept going.
Every gift here becomes a deposit covered, a box of supplies for a family that arrived with nothing, a month where somebody gets to breathe. That's the door, held open.
